Project Description
The project aims to advance sustainable agriculture in Prespa by introducing practical and effective approaches for managing biodegradable waste.
The activities focus on:
• Promoting composting, vermicomposting and other circular models
• Reducing negative environmental impacts
• Improving the quality and productivity of agricultural systems
• Encouraging farmers to develop final products with added value
The project particularly supports:
• Women active in agriculture
• Young farmers up to 39 years of age
• Producers who are transitioning, or wish to transition, towards organic production
• Farms with potential to serve as demonstration models
Key Areas of Action
1. Capacity building and demonstration
• Establishment of 7 pilot farms applying different models for biodegradable waste management
• Demonstration activities and practical support for farmers
2. Educational and information campaign
• Development of educational materials and short videos
• Involvement of schools and local communities
• Promotion and sharing of results at regional and national level
Expected Results
• Functional examples of circular biodegradable waste management in agriculture
• Increased awareness and knowledge among farmers, young people and the wider public
• Improved environmental and economic sustainability of agricultural holdings
• Support for the green transition and modern eco-practices in Prespa.
