On this year's International Day of Rural Women, we share the inspiring story of Mirjana Dojranlieva from the village of Uma in the municipality of Gevgelija. As a member of the Meglenija association, her passion is helping her community by initiating joint local community actions to create better living conditions and involve the entire community.
With the USAID's Community Development Program, she was actively involved in the implementation and coordination of the local joint community action in Uma Village to clean up and permanently close illegal landfills in the village, complete the construction of a part of the main street and install specialized boxes for disposal and initial selection of waste.
In addition, Mirjana contributed and showed her culinary skills in action by preparing traditional and local dishes at the celebration event marking the end of the joint local community action. Mirjana is one of many inspiring women from rural areas who are pushing the boundaries and making sure their communities are prosperous.
USAID's Community Development Program is implemented by the Rural Development Network of North Macedonia, in partnership with 5 Local Action Groups.
