Towards the end of January, the representatives of the Rural Development Network of North Macedonia, as an implementer of USAID’s Community Development Program, accompanied by the representative of LAG Aber-2015 visited several local actors from the business sector operating in the municipality of Kumanovo. LAG Aber-2015, as one of the five Local Action Groups that are partners of the Program and members of the Rural Development Network of NM, operates in the territories of the municipalities of Kumanovo, Staro Nagoricane, and Lipkovo.
Additionally, a meeting was held with the Mayor of the Municipality of Staro Nagoricane – Zaklina Jovanovska on the premises of the municipal building.
During these initial meetings, the main goals to be achieved within the Program were discussed, as well as the expected results and impact on promoting and supporting equitable locally-led economic development in rural areas.
The meetings were positively accepted by the owners of the companies and the representatives of the municipal administration who expressed a desire and interest to be involved in the activities of the Program.
Namely, USAID’s Community Development Program will particularly focus on involving the business sector and mobilizing local resources, linking different sources of funding, and supporting capacity building.
The Program will lead the process of continuous change, scaling up local initiatives, promoting sustainable use of land and local resources, mobilizing knowledge and ambitions of local communities in the spirit of innovation for a better life, and advocating in front of local and national stakeholders.
