The Rural Development Network Celebrates 15 Years of Dedication to Rural Communities
In 2025, the Rural Development Network of North Macedonia proudly marked its 15th anniversary, celebrating a decade and a half of active engagement, collaboration, and vision for improving the quality of life in rural areas across the country.
This important milestone was not only a celebration of the past, but also a reaffirmation of the values that drive our work: cooperation, innovation, inclusion, and sustainability.
15 Years of Vision, Partnerships, and Achievements
Since its founding, the Network has built a strong platform for uniting rural stakeholders — local organizations, farmers, institutions, experts, and activists. Over the past 15 years, we have:
-
implemented hundreds of initiatives and projects,
-
supported and shaped rural development policies,
-
published research, manuals, and studies,
-
facilitated cooperation and knowledge-sharing across sectors.
The anniversary event provided an opportunity to reflect on our achievements, recognize the people and organizations behind them, and share inspiration for the road ahead.
A Special Event Full of Inspiration
The celebration brought together members, partners, and supporters of the Network for an inspiring and meaningful gathering. The program featured:
-
A retrospective presentation of the Network’s history, activities, and impact.
-
A keynote speech by Prof. Dr. Aleksandra Martinovska Stojcheska on the importance of national policies for sustainable food systems and rural habitats.
-
Presentation of the “From Farm to Fork” Academy — a model initiative promoting an integrated, holistic approach to rural development by linking food production with sustainable living and community participation.
Awards for Outstanding Rural Initiatives
A highlight of the event was the awarding of three inspiring rural initiatives through the “From Farm to Fork” Academy:
-
Eco Team East Association – for the project "Reducing Plastic Waste in Kocani Municipality through a System for Producing Eco Tiles from PET Plastic."
-
POLIMAT 13 Association – for the initiative "Astragalus Day," dedicated to preserving the rare native plant Astragalus physocalyx.
-
First Organic Cooperative – Valandovo – for the initiative "Our Common Future," which promotes organic farming through innovation and community cooperation.
These initiatives highlight the creativity and potential of rural communities and the importance of supporting local actions.
Celebrating Unity and Looking Ahead
The event concluded with a cocktail reception and music — a true celebration of unity, collaboration, and love for rural life.
While we proudly reflect on the past 15 years, we are even more committed to the future. The Rural Development Network remains open to all who believe in the power of rural Macedonia and want to contribute to its sustainable growth.
