Construction works are underway to place a cobbled path in Uma village that leads from the entrance of the village to the center of the village

This community action envisages the construction of part of the main street by laying cobblestones in keeping with the local tradition in the length of 185 meters as well as the installation of new garbage containers where the population can separate plastic waste for recycling pickup and cleaning the public space at the entrance to Uma which used to be an illegal landfill.

In accordance with the goals of USAID’s Community Development Program, several local stakeholders from different spheres of activity were involved in the implementation of the action, contributing to the development and beautification of the village of Uma.

 

 

Namely, Uma village is located in the municipality of Gevgelija, which is part of the territory of the Local Action Group Bojmija.

In addition to the involvement of the local partner LAG Bojmija, other local stakeholders include civil society organizations, socially-responsible companies from the municipality of Gevgelija – ZG Meglenija, Viki Kompani DOOEL, Konti - Hidroplast DOOEL, Ampirat Engineering DOO, RI-NA KOM DOO, Stoun FORM DOOEL, JPKD Komunalec Gevgelija, FLORIT - Gevgelija and the people of Uma.

The community action in the village of Uma is the first realized action of this type within USAID’s Community Development Program.
