Implementer: Rural Development Network of North Macedonia

Partners: Local Action Group (LAG) Plackovica, LAG Malesh-Pijanec, LAG Belasica-Ograzden, LAG Bojmija, LAG Aber-2015, and SEG Holding

Objectives: To develop rural areas in targeted regions of North Macedonia, and engage local actors in identifying and prioritizing real community needs, relying on their own resources to undertake socio-economic and environmental-friendly investments, with increased commitment from the (local) public and private sectors

Target Group: municipalities, private sector operators, civil society organizations, local civic initiatives, national authorities, and media outlets

Direct Beneficiaries: the population of the target areas in three planning regions of the country (East, North-East, and South-East), encompassing 18 municipalities

Component 1: Networking and Empowerment

Local support and commitment is garnered through liaising with local (and national) stakeholders to develop and realize local investments as local stakeholders are equipped with skills to take over and lead the process of future community development.

Component 2: Mobilization of Local Resources for Achieving Sustainable Locally-Led Development Models

Local actors engage in identifying and prioritizing community issues to design and implement local solutions that address these issues, and they mobilize the needed resources.

Component 3: Outreach and Transfer of Knowledge

The Program supports effective replication of sustainable locally-led development models in other communities and regions, shares best practices, and promotes local development initiatives and ideas through innovative technological solutions.

This Saturday, on September 16, the second fair in a row to promote local development – LAG Expo 2023, which is the only one of its kind in the country, was held in Gevgelija.

LAG Expo 2022 – first fair for local development in the country

LAG Expo 2022 – a fair for local development was held on September 23, in the Cultural Center “Aco Karamanov” in Radovish. This fair is the first of its kind in the country where, through presentations and panel discussions, representatives of Local Action Groups (LAGs) from North Macedonia, Albania, Serbia, Kosovo, and Croatia presented their activities and discussed topics related to local development that affect all rural communities.
